I am working on syncing up Resolume Avenue with Ableton Live for live AudioVisual performances, using two computers synchronized with Ableton for main songs and tracks and Resolume for visuals and audio visual sampling, scratching, and so forth which will be able to be controlled by Ableton sequence programming/cc envelopes, Ableton mapped midi controllers on the Ableton computer combined with a MIDI controller hooked directly to Resolume Avenue or even my iPhones iTM midi controller software which allows for mobile AudioVisual mixing.
With the ability to control both VST parameters and FreeFrame effects (from even the same MIDI knob), the synchronized possibilities are endless. I have tried other software for live AV shows and there is always some sort of limitation I run into, and as it looks now Resolume Avenue 3 is the closest contender for software with most capabilities and least amount of limitations. Previously I have tried Arkaos VJ, but it's interface is a piece of crap compared to Resolume Avenue 3. After playing with both of the demos, I am seriously considering Resolume 3 for purchase especially with the 50% educational discount, as I am a student.
As I am already an experienced audio visual DJ/VJ using mostly ableton and other software such as Arkaos VJ, I am looking forward to integrating Resolume into my system for synchronized audio visual samples which will be kept tightly in time with the music and will allow for dual AV effects with the twist of one knob. I currently use Ableton as my main "decks", having a multiple output soundcard and mix it all on a 4 channel DJ mixer. So essentially this is how I'm planning my setup: Ableton tracks are mixed on channel 1 & 4 on the physical mixer, and Resolume Avenue is mixed in addition to it on the analog mixer on channel 3. So while I'm mixing in two tracks from ableton, I can bring in syncrhonized samples such as vocals, hooks, and loops to layer and mix into / outof or use as transitions between songs which will all be synchronized automatically.
Additionally, since Ableton is going to be the master clock and sequencer behind everything, I am researching the best way to synchronize audio from ableton, audiovisual from Resolume 3, and DMX effects such as pyrotechnics, lasers, fog, and lighting which will all be tightly synchronized and play off of each other.
So thats how I plan to use Resolume Avenue. Now how about you? I'd like to hear how other people are using Resolume and similar software, and what workflow methods they are utilizing.
Workflow: How do you use Resolume Avenue?
