what about in/out effect for choosen layer?

Post by jonek »

Hello Avenue community!

Before I start, let me notice something,
The software I mostly use is Visual Jockey.
I do not use Resolume Avenue, not yet, but I have spent couple of hours testing it.
The Avenue looks very complex, its flexible layout is very nice!

However, I have a suggestion regarding in/out effect for chosen layer. For example:
I'd like to use one layer for titles and/or ready/prepared texts, patterns, shapes,
then when I have decided which one I'm gonna use,the chosen layer should appear but not as ON/OFF switch. The layer should became visible with "IN" effect i.e. fly in, slide in, jump in, move in, fade in, etc (with adjustable "in" time) and then hold its position/state until another key/midi/mouse action for "OUT" action, like fly out, fade out etc.

This could easily expand possible uses of Avenue as tv-news-like titler or subtitler.

I am curious if the layout/architecture of Avenue allows this kind of "extension" ?

My other suggestion would be to apply transition list to "A/B" slider, like A/B transitions between layers in Premiere or Vegas ?

Probably most of people use Avenue in clubs and during dance events where beat matched speed is essential,
but IN/OUT effect and transitions could apply some mixer-like effect on the screen, I think.

Regards,
Jonasz

PS.
Keep in mind that I am NOT an Avenue guru, so, sorry if this option has already been included.

you can do some transitions by choosing a layer blend mode that is a transition (near the bottom of the list of options in that menu). the transition is controlled by the layer's video fader.

It would be nice if when layers were triggered, they came in with a transition effect instead of just a cut.

I've mentioned this before, but if you are trying to get a series of mixed transitions between clips, then you need to go through this dance of fade layer/trigger clip/fade in layer/trigger clip on hidden layer/etc.
