windows integration with other applications

Post by pleasuretek »

YES! integration with VVVV exists and I think everyone should know.... its a free tool called VHScapture. its a directx filter that acts as a virtual capture device and can attach itself to any window and pipe video from vvvv render output to resolume 3 nicely with multiple windows overlaying render window. I found it in the VVVVorums and the vvvv software tools list (a great source of other (mostly) free tools for basic video tasks)

download located here (get the VH Screen capture driver)
http://www.hmelyoff.com/index.php?section=1

you can kill the border of your VVVV output by ctrl+8. Its vvvvery handy to use the svvvvitcher built by tonfilm.

so far I can pipe 1280x720 video very smoothly and very fast (@ 30fps, anything over 40fps and resolume slows). Resolume stays at 60fps. Its not the absolute cleanest HD 1280x720... it does get a little blurry but signal is still good. few frames of latency but audio reactive stuff still comes fast enough to keep up and notice its audio reactive (make sure microphone has smallest latency possible)

And it works with just about any window.... so video game windows, any fun audio visualizer, Resolume 2, lots of stuff....

The cons: every time you run resolume3 a vh capture window pops up with a 4 capture driver app used for security monitoring, just close that window...

*note* I have only tested this on windows 7 x64... let us know how it works for you on your system (and yes this is windows only, I hope you find something similar for mac, and no I had nothing to do with developing any of this, I just roll on wheels.)
Asus build - intel 2.8GHz T9600, 4GB 800Mhz DDR2, ATI 4670
Rack unit - intel 2.7GHz q6600, 8GB 1066Mhz DDR2, 9800GTX+, intensity HDMI input card
