How can I use Avenue for live performances?

Post by goblin »

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out if this product is right for me. I am a DJ and I mix using a MIDI controller, and I want to add videos to my gigs. So basically I am going to be using the visuals of Avenue and not its audio features. However I was wondering if I could define the input audio for it so that perhaps it could do beat-detection and apply effects in sync with the beat (btw I am assuming beat-detection is supported? Not a big deal if it isn't).

Another question is, can I manipulate my videos in real-time or does it have to be pre-recorded? Basically I have several clips and I want to switch between them in real time with a press of a button.

Thanks.

Hey Goblin

I think it is ;-)

That's no problem. Just turn off the Audio Controls in the View menu, and they won't get in the way.

You can set up External Audio FFT in the Audio tab of the Preferences to come via line in or your computers microphone. Then any parameter can be set to react to the level of the incoming audio, or to a frequency part. Beat detection is not supported, but you can pass the BPM of your audio software via midi as well. We have a tutorial on how that works with Ableton Live here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6187&p=23398&hilit ... al+#p23398

That's exactly what this program is meant for! It's all about switching videos in realtime and manipulating them live. Why not try the free demo? http://resolume.com/download/

I hope that answers your questions. Feel free to post any more!
