I've been using an old mini-dv cam as a capture device for some time now, which works great because I have decent zoom and focus controls, as well as resolution, frame rate and low-light performance.
I'm thinking of adding a webcam as well so I'll have two capture devices which might be fun (and maybe just retire the DV cam, its going geriatric). I heard recently that the PlayStation Eye was a good value camera, but I'm wondering what alternatives are out there which will play nice with Resolume 3 (on an MBP). I've noticed that there are some HD ones out now, but I'm sceptical as to whether they're suitable for visuals. Has anyone tried these?
Also, while reading some reviews I noticed that some cameras are noted for being resource hungry as they don't compress the video stream, has anyone had an issue with this?
