More Record options

Post by SubstanceJ »

One thing I like to do while VJ-ing is record the ongoing composition and then loosing it in the background using filters and other clips. But whenever I record a nicely beat-matched composiotion, the recorded version gets "all over the place" and starts jumping at the end since it's not a perfect fit to the beats.

What I'm suggesting is to add a "snap to beat" option for the recording which waits for the next bar and starts automatically. But in this case it would also need to end automatically, so there should be a dropbox of how many beats you want to record. (the resulting clip could be set to BPM match by default but that's not that important)

I'm sure it would be handy for a lot of VJ's.

EDIT: I just thought of another addition in the same category, a "record preview" option, or simply replicating the effects and clip setting on the piece one is working in the background (preview window). Just a thought.

Hey SubstanceJ

This request has already popped up before. We would very much like to implement it, but it will be quite some time before it'll see the light of day.

Thanks for the reply. I just thought I'd put that out there.
