ping pong bug?

Post by gavspav »

When a clip is set to play forwards and then backwards - ping pong mode? - the clip direction remains the same as when the last trigger finished. It isn't reset before the next trigger.

Tongue tied aargh.

Trigger a clip so that it plays forward and begins playing back and then release the trigger.
If you trigger the clip again then it will start playing from the end of the clip backwards.

Perhaps this is by design but I kind of expected the clip to start from the beginning as it does in all the other playback modes.

I guess this is question of bug versus undocumented feature ;-)

What would you guys and gals like to see as the default behaviour?

My two cents: Rest direction when restart.

A bit off-topic:
I faced a similar problem when I connected Live with Resolume. I changed parameters via Live, and when I restarted the sequence in Live, Resolume was always in a different initial "state". I'm not just talking about forward/backward; but FX params; running clips (this could be fixed using piano mode I guess); changed clip properties; etc.etc. So I decided to send "reset messages" before I restart the whole, but setting up those reset sequence is really time consuming. Would be great I could save the current state of Avenue and recall it later on. - Might be related to an undo function... !?

default behavior should be that when triggered ALWAYS start forward, and if re-triggered ALWAYS start from forward..

The other problem is that if you load these clips into preview and let them play long enough to bounce backwards when you finally load the clip into the layer it is now set to backwards.. surely this isn't the desired "undocumented feature"

I've always had to hit the STOP button in Live and then PLAY for it to reset properly
