Simple beginner question

Post by gabemott »

New to all this, bear with me.
Is it possible to have an effect control be responsive to sound?
I started googling this and got all into OSC and all this other stuff I don't know.

It sounds like that is not built into resolume. Sound visualizer is what I am talking about right?

I just want to be able to step away for a while and have some kind of effect on the screen that is matched up with the volume or bass or whatever of the music.

I do have quartz composer... but thought this kind of thing would be built into resolume..

thanks,
gabe

I just dropped in a cool rainbow drop Quart Composer file that, in QC responds to sound by getting bigger. I just clap my hands or play some music. When I drop it into resolume it seems to work with loud claps and kinda with the music i'm playing on macbook. So guess that's sort of progress. But still would like to be able to map to different effects in resolume.

Here's the qtz file

Hey Gabemott

It kind of depends on what you mean by 'visualizer', but you can apply an effect (or a few of them) on a clip or the composition and have them respond to the music:

Click the triangle drop down next to any parameter you want to have respond to the music. Then choose external audio FFT from the list.

Check the 'Audio analysis' chapter of the manual for more info on how to set this up.

Hope that helps!
