Hi guys, I might have a really dumb question. I am trying to prefabricate a resolume mix to a song on my mac pro, with the song triggering all kinds of effects. I can't load the wav-file into resolume because in that case the music stops when I trigger a column. Resolume does not respond to the song when I play it in my itunes. In resolume I seem unable to select my USB microphone as sound in, although it is visible as an option.

For some reason, my system does not recognize line in microphones. I am at a loss here, any good tip/ideas/hints?

you can try to load the wav file into resolume (playing it on a seperate layer) and use the internal fft
think this should be the best was, also you can use the record function (if it works fine for you) to record audio and video

right, but he wants to trigger columns and that still stops the audio from playing . this would be a job for the requested "lock layer"-feature. what system are you running avenue on, OS X or Windows?
on OS X you can use soundflower from cycling74 (http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/) and on Windows I use Virtual Audio Cable (http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm) to route sound into avenue as the external input.
on Windows it would also be a good idea to look at asio4all (http://www.asio4all.com/) if you don't have a soundcard that comes with asio drivers. otherwise the whole thing's going to be quite laggy.
