im really a novice when it comes to thing like codecs.
Ive downloaded the mideo codec but im still getting the white screens in resolume.
Where do i change the codecs settings? is install it all i have to do? Im realy baffled.
I did have a read frew the forum but everyone else seems to know more than me.

codec is short for COmpress/DECompress - your files are compressed when you create/edit/output them from whatever app you are using, and are decompressed at playback time (ie. when being used in resolume).
Your files need to be compressed with the mideo codec before being used in resolume.
You'll need to use something like adobe premiere, after effects, vegas video, or something similar to compress them - when you export from any of those programs you should get options for choosing the output type (quicktime, avi, mpg etc) and then options for the specific CODEC you have chosen for that output type.

A good (and free!) choice for basic recompression jobs (and a lot more) is VirtualDub. (http://www.virtualdub.org/)
Virtualdub is faster than the commercial apps for simple processing jobs, is easy to batch control and is totally free, No PC-based VJ should be without it.
Make sure to get the batch assistant (http://brightonart.org/VDubBatchAssistant.shtml) as well - it will help you to recompress or process a whole load of files all at once.
Once you have virtualdub, you will need to run each video file through it to compress them in a codec that you have installed on your performance machine (i.e. the machine you run resolume on)
