No layer blend modes available

hello everybody!

might be a stupid newbie questions, but i will have to ask since i can't find out how to make the different layer blend modes work. fact is that on the layer level (next to the three sliders for A, AV and V) the three buttons for pre-selections only show "Alpha". There's no dropdown menue, just the message "no choices". under "Layer Porperties" there is a dropdown menue for the blend modes, however, whatever I select, it has no effect. the only blend mode working is "Alpha". any ideas how i can get this to work? i am running resolume in demo mode, version 3.3.0 ....

any help is highly appreciated.

ok ... i had it messed up myself

the global effects and blends were disabled in the preferences. eveything works fine now!
