Blend modes/masks

Post by shjaarwle »

Hello all.

I hope you can help me find a sollution for my problem. I hope it makes sense.

In the attached image you can see a screenshot from Resolume 3 (left) and a Photoshop visual of the desired result (bottom right). For those who know After Effects, I basically want to do an "Apha Matte" affect to create a fill for my dinamic text in the top layer.

I tried doing this in Flash first but I cant do a liniar gradient fill in dynamic text. If I use a mask in Flash then the mask effect will not work once I export it to an swf. I saw some Action scripts that suppose to solve this but thats where my Flash knowlage stops. But surely I should be able to do this in Resolume right?

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Charles

Here's one method...

Create a PNG (with alpha) of your text.
In resolume create a gradient source clip
Apply your png as a mask to the gradient clip

Thanks Sadler, but I'm using a swf with dynamic text so I can change the text real-time. That's why it needs to stay on a seperate layer.

Yeah, sorry, missed the dynamic bit before submitting.

I've had some success with Auto Mask on swf files where the cutout parts are grey/dark grey.
