using 2 laptops mac and pc

Post by niclinn75 »

Hi

I've been having a few problems running Mainstage 2 and resolume avenue off my macbook pro during live performances. Suddenly for no apparent reason all the 8 channels of audio playback coming out of mainstage and all the visuals running off resolume will stop . (quite embarrasing during a gig!)

I thought at first it was the mac overheating but i've realised it is not that now, I'm thinking it would just be an easier and safer soloution to run resolume off a separate laptop .

I only have 1 macbook pro so I'm gonna have to buy resolume again for pc and run it off the windows laptop its not a great laptop! Windows vista, Intel (R) pentium(R)Dual CPU T2330 @1.60 GHz Ram 1789 MB 32 bit

Does anyone know whether I can connect a mac to a windows laptop via ethernet cable and trigger it that way, will they talk to each other? what version of Resolume avenue will i need for this old Laptop?

I'm only triggering one ( 4 minute) video clip at a time, (DVX) nothing complicated no effects or anything.

Any help would be hugely appreciated

Thanks

Nathan

H Nathan,

Have you had any more luck with this?

So are you using the Audio to trigger the clips? Could you not use Midi? Im unfamilar with Mainstage so pardon my ignorance.

so when you mean the visuals stopped? is it a case of the clips running till the end or is it you have a blank screen and Resolume crashes?

hmmm, from what you are saying its simply just playback and your using the correct codec. What size resolution? - Not that i think this will be the issue. In fact do you notice if playback is affected at all during performance or prior to stopping?

I was wondering this too. I dont know.

I would always suggest the latest version as this fixes bug updates and is always good practice. I would maybes download the demo and give it a little test run.

Resolume Avenue 3.3.3 - MBP i7, 8gb RAM - Snow Leopard (2010). Akai APC20
