Hi folks,
I'm learning content creation in Aftereffects, and I've hit an odd speed bump.
When I create a very basic .mov file using the DXV codec, the resulting file works fine when viewed in Quicktime, but no matter the resolution I use, when I import it into Arena it chops off 36 pixels from the right-hand side of the clip.
It only happens with content I create (other .mov files don't have this problem) so I assume it's something I'm doing wrong, but the problem only occurs when I open an otherwise-working file in Arena.
Any ideas what I've done wrong?
Thanks!

thats strange.
what resolution are you working at?
have you somehow moved scaled the composition in your project by accident?
any screen shots to show it?

Re: Arena cutting off pixels of a DXV .mov file?
So I left this problem on the back burner for a while, but a bit of extra testing shows the same problem consistently.
Any content I create myself in AfterEffects shows up in Finder, VLC or Quicktime at proper resolution, but loads in Resolume at full height and 91% width (that is, an 800x600 clip loads at 727x600).
The problem is consistent regardless of the resolution of the Resolume comp, or the resolution of the content clip, and only occurs with video files I've created myself in Aftereffects, external content does not have this problem.
Seems clear enough that I've got a bad setting somewhere in the chain, but I can't seem to identify it. Any thoughts or suggestions are most appreciated.

Is it actually chopping off part of the image, or is it squeezed? It could be a pixel aspect ratio problem. What are your AE comp and export settings?

Re: Arena cutting off pixels of a DXV .mov file?
Hi Joris,
It looks like it's cropping the Quicktime file - see three screenshots attached.
In the two Resolume screenshots, you can see that the file is showing up at proper resolution in Finder and in the Quicktime video player, but when I load it into Resolume, it's cutting 9% of the pixels off the left side of the clip.
The third screenshot is my AfterEffects output settings.
This problem only occurs in Resolume (all other video players show the clip properly) and only occurs with content I have created in AfterEffects (Resolume displays image files and content from other sources correctly).
It appears to crop by the same percentage on any resolution (about 9%) and only off the right side of the clip, never from the right, top or bottom.
Clearly Resolume doesn't like the video I'm making!
Thanks for your help!

When you create your composition in After Effects which "Pixel Aspect Ratio" are you using? It should be square pixel. Anamorphic or any other setting will crop or squeeze the video.

Got it in one!
Made the change to square pixels and the problem appears 100% solved. Thank you sir!
Now, if anyone could educate me on why square pixels affect the output in Resolume but not in Quicktime Player, I'd be most grateful for the lesson!

It affect both, Resolume & QuickTime, but you Can only see it in Resolume because the resolution of the composition (800x600)... If you check the video proprties in QT you will see 727x600...
