Which graphic card do the job ?

Post by philatub »

Hello !

I explain : with multiple graphic card setup (1x GTX 580 and 3xGT 120 in a Mac Pro), which one does OpenGl heavy work ? The one which is used for Resolume GUI, or each card processes its own affected video output ?
Am I clear ?... :?

Thanks for your replies.

The card that has the GUI on it will always do the heavy lifting, so this should always be your best card.

It's unfortunate that this is possibly counter intuitive to how you would expect it (since logically you could expect the cards that handle the output to do more work), but that's the way it is. Welcome to the wonderful world of computers.

You can actually choose which card is rendering using the Nvidia 3d Settings. Discovered this when testing using a GTX 680 and GTX 580 and a Quadro 600 simultaneously.

i want to pick it up again, just to be safe i understanded it correctly.

If i need 6 projector outputs, i just have to use one "big" Card showing the Resolume GUI and the other cards could be whatever

For example:
1 x GTX 680 4GB for Resolume (main Monitors showing GUI) and 2 x GT640 with 4 connectors each to connect the projectors showing the output? essential is the main card?

:?: ???
