Firewire 800 vs. Esata

Am using a Glyph GT050Q external drive to store my vid clips; currently connected to my laptop via Firewire 800; noticing frame rate dropping; can I expect an improvement with ESATA? Or is this an RPM thing? The Glyph is 7200RPM...

After Effects Clips running not so smoothly

I want my video clip to NOT disappear

Is there a way to get my clips to NOT disappear after they are triggered? I see only loop, backwards and forwards. Ideally it would just freeze on the last frame.

Triggering clips

Is there any way to adjust parameters OTHER than clicking sliders and dragging? Can you select and use arrow keys to bump or adjust by increments?

The bitch about this is when I want loooong smooooth fades. I tried one at 2 minutes and it was ...
