External Audio FFT - multiple inputs?

Post by Heberling »

With an audio interface with two inputs, is it possible to separate these in Resolume? Let's say I have a kick drum on line 1 and vocals on line 2 and will use them quite differently for effect manipulation. In the settings I only get the option to select one or the other, or both?

There's also a nifty little EQ filter for fft control as well ;)

Are you referring to the little one in the dropdown with low, mid, hi etc? Or am I missing something?

That EQ is helpful but not really as precise as isolating the source and then using the EQ... I mean there is bass in both kick and vocals. So there is no way to route sound inputs?

I would love to be able to do that as well.

i was asking my self the same question.
But it looks like there is no solution yet.

now that virtualdj separates songs into stems, i think set up right separated instruments assigned to stuff in res could be the icing on the cake im looking for

i would love to send separated stems from virtualdj to multiple associated external audio fft inputs inside of resolume

example:

stem kick = making layer 1 in res bounce
stem instrument = composition color changes
stem bass = layer 2
stem hats = dmx layer
stem snare = effects

this could be accomplished by smart audio routing midi mapping in virtualdj

if there was a more cohesive denon stagelinq/virtualdj/stems resolume, plugin type deal that'd be so rad.
ill swing this feature request to virtualdj

i think that this feature in conjunction with virtualdj's POI(cue point) to midi could allow new and better dj/vj possibility's with visual compositions in league with stuff like BIRDMASK Visuals

You might have a solution thru "Magic Music Visuals", it has what you need from/for audio, i can imagine myself creating a scene with the needed patches with their specific channel in MMV, using either syphon/spout/ndi to get the "image" back and for between the softs (Res - MMV)

atm I'm using Gig Performer to get OSC/Midi out of several audio inputs which gets me the most versatility. In the past I've used Ableton with Max for Live OSC Plugins (you need the Suite version for it to use those) and/or Chataigne for this job. I think ossia score could also work but I didn't try it yet.
Still of course I would prefer using multiple audio FFT inputs in a future release of Arena natively :D
