semi-auto timeline with loops?

Post by janceallen »

Hi! I’m new to all this and wondering if any software out there will easily do what I’m trying to do. (Checking out resolume, modul8, and qlab at the moment.)

What I want I think would be some version of an autopilot sequence or timeline. I want to arrange my video clips something like this:

clip_1
loop_1
clip_2
loop_2
clip_3
loop_3
etc.

Where we would start a song, the video would play up to a point, loop indefinitely until I click, then continue up to the next point, loop, etc. Something like this:

clip_1 - play beginning to end and then loop the next clip
optional click jump ahead to next (with transition?)
loop_1 - play continuous loop until user interaction
click: finish and play next (with transition?)
or
click: jump to next (with transition?)
clip_2 - play beginning to end and then loop the next clip
optional click jump ahead to next (with transition?)
loop_2 - play continuous loop until user interaction
click: finish and play next (with transition?)
or
click: jump to next (with transition?)
clip_3 - play beginning to end and then loop the next clip
optional click jump ahead to next (with transition?)
loop_3 - play continuous loop until user interaction
click: finish and play next (with transition?)
or
click: jump to next (with transition?)
etc.

I’ve been reading up on what I could find and watching tutorials, but I’m not sure yet. Any info. on how I’d accomplish this with resolume would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

watchout, Resolume, Isadora and Qlab can do this various ways, Resolume would be the trickiest but you could totally do it.

I'm not 100% sure if I understood you correctly, but I think this is relatively straightforward using a combination of AutoPilot and Layer Transitions.

What I think you want is this: Clip 1 should play to the end, then switch to Clip 2 automatically. Clip 2 should then loop until the user decides. Repeat for 3 and 4, 5 and 6 etc.

To get this behaviour, import Clip 1 and 2 next to each other. Right click on Clip 1, and set the Auto Pilot to Play Next Clip. Right Click on Clip 2 and set the Auto Pilot to Do Nothing. Do Nothing actually means it will loop until you click another clip. At that point it will start playing the clip you chose.

Repeat this process for as many clips as you need.

If you want a transition between the clips, just turn on the Layer Transition for that layer: https://resolume.com/manual/en/r4/layer ... ransitions

Hope that helps!
