2GB or 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M??

Would I really notice a difference between a 2GB vs. 4GB GTX 850M? I always get lag when launching a column of clips or sometimes just one clip. The FPS always drops.. Would the more video memory help? What if I had my OS on one SSD and all clips on another SSD, would this help?

That really depends on your compositions but all things equal 4GB will be better than 2GB when it comes time to rendering complex graphics.

That doesn't sound right! What's your current setup and what's the details of your composition?

I have an Asus g55vw-dh71 with Nvidia GTX 660M 2G GDDR5.
All clips 720 DXV. Output 720.
I trigger everything via Midi. If I use Modul8 on my old mac (granted different clips) but it always triggers clips instantly, R4 lags, noticeably.

You say you get a lag when you trigger via MIDI, what about when you trigger directly in R4, do you get a lag? How many layers and how many clips in your deck?

Just a midi controller in via usb. The triggers are fast with it if I am triggering other things like bypass layer, solo layer. Same lag triggering directly. I only do 3 layers at a time, 48 clips in a deck.

Could you maybe post a screencap of the lag? It's always helpful to see what's happening.

to get instant triggering you must have beat snap set to "none"
