Hey,
my aim is to project two different videos in the same area. One in the background and one in the front. So I need two different mappings. I`m using two projectors in soft edge mode. With one projector I can do a mapping for layer x and another for layer y... With two projectors its not working. I`m looking for a solution since two weeks. Maybe its not possible, but maybe someone can help me... That would be great! Thanks!
Christoph
Second Mapping with Soft Edge
Re: Second Mapping with Soft Edge
soft edge is for projecting the same image, spanning across two ore
or more projectors, usually for cases where one projector would not be able to cover a surface.
would you like to cover the background video with the other?
place your background video on layer 1 and the other on layer 2 and scale down your layer 2 video to see the background video. You can transform the layer 2 in the composition, but you can also route that layer to a slice by selecting the slice input, then you can transform the slice in the output section of the Advanced Screen setup.
by projecting two videos with two different projectors on the same surface you just blend the videos,
remember, projecting black is projecting nothing.

Re: Second Mapping with Soft Edge
thanks a lot, but thats not helping. if you look at the picture attached its a bit more complex... scaling is not the solution and I know how to put videos in layers... I need for video 1 a different mapping (advanced mode) than for video two. because my background is a little bit longer away (but its also focused).

Re: Second Mapping with Soft Edge
for example:
Display 1 & Display 2 / Input: Layer 1 / Soft Edge
Now I want to map Layer 2 with Display 1 and Display 2, because of different content...
but now I cant use Display 1 and 2 for Layer 2... why??

does one projector cover your surface?

Re: Second Mapping with Soft Edge
no... unfortunately not
Re: Second Mapping with Soft Edge
blending in different depths - distance surfaces needs a separate blend for each distance.
if your second surface-foreground is not in the blended area, you can get away only blending the background.
then once the blend of layer1 looks good, you create another slice for layer 2, slice input from layer 2,
make sure it's on top of the blended slices, so when the layer plays it covers the background.
In output tab you can then easily place the foreground slice where you need it.

Re: Second Mapping with Soft Edge
thanks a lot!!!
now its working. the hint that I have to put the layer on top was the right one.
I`m rendering my content always with alpha channel. thats why I was thinking it doesnt matter which one is on the top.
so why cant resolume read my alpha channel in the dxv3 codec?

Re: Second Mapping with Soft Edge
Make sure you encode your videos in 32-bit, not 24-bit, for alpha. If that still produces no alpha then encode in DXV3 High Quality.
Re: Second Mapping with Soft Edge
also the alpha has to be enabled separately int he codec preferences, and you need to have a source with alpha of course.
which program are you using to render?Software developer, Sound Engineer,
