It'd also be pretty cool to be able to record audio from the soundcard input. This would allow me to select audio output in Windows mixer and have whatever source my heart desires into the mix

Can you elaborate on what you mean by globally disable? Turn it off so you don't hear it? Or permanently remove all audio from all clips? Or something else entirely? It'd be nice to see a feature to globally disable audio on all clips.
This has been requested a few times before, and we're aware of the demand for it. It will most likely become a feature in Res 4.It'd also be pretty cool to be able to record audio from the soundcard input. I'm curious to see where you got this figure from. Audio processing happens on the CPU, which is far from the bottleneck when it comes to framerate.Global deactivation of sound (kill all the sound-processing and output and input) would boost the frame rate at least 10%.
