and turn WIFI off on both computers.Oaktown wrote:Why don't you introduce a small five port unmanaged 1G switch, Connect both computers and the router to the switch, then you assign static (reserved) IP addresses to both your computers in the router software using their MAC address?
I think I get it. I can't connect to the internet via wired connection on this machine because my router is essentially on a different network (192.168.1.x rather than 192.168.10.x). Is that right? The only time I connect my two computers directly together is gigging. The rest of the time I only use one of those laptops - the slave. it is the newer of the two and it runs Resolume live. Since I set up the direct network between the two machines I have lost the ability of connecting to the internet using the wired connection on my slave. It used to work.Oaktown wrote:Essentially you have two completely different networks (192.168.1.x/24 and 192.168.10.x/24 where /24 expresses a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0), correct? Is your wired network (192.168.10.X /24) connected to the internet?
My recommendation would still be the same: Instead of connecting your two computers (master & slave) directly to one another....and turn WIFI off on both computers.Oaktown wrote:Why don't you introduce a small five port unmanaged 1G switch, Connect both computers and the router to the switch, then you assign static (reserved) IP addresses to both your computers in the router software using their MAC address?
To keep your IP settings in your master/slave computer, all you'd have to do is after you connect the wifi router to the 1G switch and give it a 192.168.10.1/24 manual address.
Does that make sense.
Why?I don't really want to use a switch since it's a straight computer to computer setup - nothing else.
Does it not put another link in the chain - more potential for something to go wrong?Oaktown wrote:Why?I don't really want to use a switch since it's a straight computer to computer setup - nothing else.
It all depends on your firewall settings so not necessarily!f working in a physical therapy corporation, shall comply with Chapter1, Article 6, commencing with Section 650.
