Avenue 6 working only in compatibility mode on Windows 10

Post by MoHu »

Hi,

I'm looking into moving from a Win7 desktop machine to a Win10 laptop.

I installed Avenue 6 on Windows 10 Home [Version 10.0.16299.192] on an Alienware 17R4 laptop [nVidia 1070 - driver version 388.71] and trying to start it I get the following error:

Starting Avenue in compatibility mode (Windows 8 or 7) seems to solve the problem, though I haven't had the time to test it for an extended period of time. I don't know if this a problem, but I tried it on a fresh Win10 install on the desktop system and it works without having to set the compatibility mode. Should I just run in compatibility mode and not worry about it?

I tried Avenue 4.6.3 and it behaves the same way, the error is a bit different though:
