Not receiving any audio input from any source and no MIDI input from Ableton

Post by neer human »

Hello all,

my copy of Resolume Arena 7.21.0 seems to have two critical bugs for which I cannot find solutions on the forum.

For context, I am using a MacBook Pro M1 14-inch 2021, running macOS Sonoma 14.5.

Audio Input Issue: Resolume Arena seems to not be receiving any audio input whatsoever. I am using a Universal Audio Volt 476 interface, but the same issue occurs with my Audient ID4 or with Sonnox Listen Hub which routes the audio back from the computer into Arena.
Even if I plug a microphone into the input 1 of the Volt interface, gain it up and select Input 1 & 2 of the Volt interface as the FFT inputs for Arena, I don’t get any audio into Arena (I have the view of the FFT Gain active and there are no movement of the sound to be seen). Any help?

MIDI Input Issue: I am experiencing the same problem with MIDI input from Ableton. I have created a MIDI network called "Network 1" in the MIDI Studio, checked "track" in the Ableton midi preferences window for the same network, and selected "Network 1" as the MIDI input in Arena preferences, but no MIDI signals are being received (Notes, CC etc).

Has anyone experienced a similar bug, could you help me solve this?

Thank you 🙏

Is Resolume allowed to access microphone and inputs in the OSX privacy settings?

For the Midi, you have to set the midi track in your arrangement in Ableton to send out on the device.

Changing OSX privacy settings did the trick for the audio, thank you!

For the MIDI side unfortunately I still haven't managed to get any MIDI input into Arena from Resolume as shown in the screenshot.
The MIDI track is sending MIDI on Channel 1 (or any other channel) of my Network Session and Areana is set to receive inputs from the same network, but nothing comes through.
Any idea of why that might be the case?

Thank you for your help!

Network session is probably not a loopback device.
Try using IAC to create a virtual loopback

Yes my MIDI network wasn't indeed a loopback one, I created one with IAC instead and Arena is now receiving MIDI from Ableton Live ✌️

Turns out the bugs were in my knowledge and not in the software, as to be expected.

Thank you so much for your help!
