Hello.
I've been trying to develop a mapping project which i have problems with.
When i run all layers at the same time it starts to stutter.
I checked on the resources dialog of my pc and noticed everytime stutter starts also the "Disk" is going from 30% average to 100%
Resolume seems to be using Disk at top so i dont know if its an issue related with my graphic card or my CPU. Wouldn't a saturation of processes affect CPU consumption rather than Disk?
Here is the specifications of the project im working out.
-Composition size set to 1280x720 and the mapping output set to 1366x760
-Every video clip is 360X480
-The composition has 8 active layers at all time.
-On the mapping output i have 14 active layers at all time
-I activated the option in advanced output to bring the signal directly from each layer to the mapping output, which means i have no effects working on the composition.
My laptop specs are
-Lenovo Ideapad 400y
-Windows 8.1
-Processor Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.40GHz
-Ram 6.00GB
-NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2gb
I checked the benchmark board Joris started 2 yrs ago and saw a slightly better computer than mine which had also similar limitations working around with up to 10 layers in 1280x720.
The point here is i dont know what is the problem: GPU, CPU, Disk (i dont know how that works, may i need a new one? too much processes?) or what.
Hope someone can help me with this.
Cheers !

Re: Stutter and disk usage
do you play the content from an SSD?
is the content all DXV?
is the content all DXV?

Re: Stutter and disk usage
No, i run it from the internal HDD of the laptop.
And yes, all content is made on DXV3. I started rendering clips in 720 but i had to underscale them, always using DXV3
Edit:
I forgot to tell I also attached .wav sounds to 20 clips at least, which run at 3072kbps each.
The Disk still gets overworking even if no audio is used.

Re: Stutter and disk usage
looks like you are reaching the read limits of the hdd.
reading 8 files simultaneously slows down read speeds a lot, because of the head seek times.
you'd need an SSD.

Re: Stutter and disk usage
Really?
i have a SSD and never thought it would be a better option than my local hdd to run videos.
hope i can get it working all together.
Thank you very much.
Edit:
I tried the SSD and everything goes really smooth.
Thanks !
