ok so I have 24 hours before getting on a plane for a gig and I decide to give my set one last go, I open up Ableton and Resolume and wtf... All clips in my Resolume project that rely on external VFX such as Plexus are empty!
The clips do still have their original names but they appear to be empty.
See the attached pic for an example, I this is a Plexus clip and you can see in the browser to the right the VFX are installed correctly.
I'm absolutely sure I haven't changed a thing since my last performance and rehearsals, does anybody know what weird bug this is and more important: how to quickly fix it?
I might be able to recreate the clips in time but how I can be sure next time I open up the project I won't encounter the same problem?
(updates):
*now that I think of it, the clip of the photo wasn't just a single Plexus effect, it had a multitude of Resolume vfx on it, which are also all gone...
*I tried opening an older version of the project and that works fine, including all the external vfx clips, so I guess it's an issue with the project file, not my system...

Re: Urgent last minute issue: lost all external vfx clips
Did you make any changes of hardware or move the main Resolume folder in your application folder?
Open Preferences and go to Video to make sure it's pointing to the right directory.
If not, to reconnect your VFX (assuming they're still on your computer), click on the [+] and find the folder which should be located in application/Resolume Arena 5.1.4/plugins/vfx (or afx).

Re: Urgent last minute issue: lost all external vfx clips
Hi Oaktown,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes they are properly installed, I can add the Plexus effect for example to a new clip without any problems.
In my attached image you can also see the VFX appear in the browser.
The problem is that the VFX sources I was using in my project suddenly have gone blank..

no I meant the original post..
plus: I tried opening an older version of the project and that works fine, including all the external vfx clips, so I guess it's an issue with the project file, not my system...

Re: Urgent last minute issue: lost all external vfx clips
if you saved/overwrote the composition with the effects unconnected then they won't appear again.
You'll have to use a backup comp or an older version.

Here are two screenshots, one of the affected composition, one of an older good version.
Ravensc although your suggestion seems logical I can't recall changing anything from the file system, it seems completely random...
The red boxes are the affected clips: as you can see the vfx are present in the browser and working on other projects:

Re: Urgent last minute issue: lost all external vfx clips
What happens if you drag these sources onto empty slots in the affected composition?
Can you confirm that 1) you're opening both the newer and older comps with the same version of Arena and 2) these effects are in the vfx folder of the version of Arena you're using for the newer comp?

Re: Urgent last minute issue: lost all external vfx clips
If I drag them on I get the vfx with the basic settings, I loose all my settings but they do work fine! Plus the clip contained more than just the Plexus for example, the five other (standard resolume) vfx are also gone..
And yes, two confirmations!

Re: Urgent last minute issue: lost all external vfx clips
Since you're experiencing a weird behavior, my recommendation would be to follow these instructions:
Support FAQ wrote:Go to the Resolume folder in (My) Documents. Move the config.xml file, disconnect any external devices and try to start again. This will force Resolume to start with the default comp and preferences. This should bring things back to normal.
If you're still having trouble, please send your log file to mail@resolume.com
