which projector to buy, hp or acer?

Is there much difference between 1600 and 200 lux??

You mean 1600 and 2000 lux? Probably not that you'd notice in an average club.

Do you really need to buy a projector? How often do you play in a club that doesn't have one? If they don't have one then hire one and charge it as expenses.

Maybe you want it for the house too, I don't know

yeah, I'm from the place on the earth that it's not a common thing to have a projector in the club, and I'd like to use it private anyway.

we have 2, a nec (http://www.projectorcentral.com/NEC-Mul ... MT1030.htm) and a sony (http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sony-VPL-ES2.htm), i would recomend both of them, also check out http://www.projectorcentral.com/ for more reviews.

in perth most clubs, bars, ect dont have there own which is bad, its so much easyer when they do

In general i wouldn't buy any Sony stuff anymore, whatever the quality. Their support is the worst ever.
Plus i have seen older projectors from Sony, which dramatically loose light power, because the optical systems gets dirty inside.

The best mid-range beamers are propably those from NEC. With smoke filters and build with quality parts. I recommend the LT series. Unfortunately NEC is quite expensive.

But at the end, its maybe better to rent a projector when needed instead of buying one for several thousand bucks.

I'm a big fan of Mitsubishi; I bought a couple SL4Us (refurb) for about $700 USD a while back; one of the clubs I worked liked them so much, they had me order and install one for them. (They actually ended up with an SL4SU -- not that I have any idea what difference there is between the two models.) Terrific bulb life, great image, bright as all get-out -- I've never had to set one on 'high,' even when greatly exceeding the recommended max throw distance and with a final image size of 20' x 15'. (Admittedly, that was in a darkened auditorium with a minimum of stage lights.)

I bought all three from http://projectorpros.com . I see they currently have B-stock SL4SUs for $699 USD each -- $100 less than I paid in May, and $1,800 below list for an A-stock SL4SU. (They ship internationally, and the projector is 110/220 and NTSC/PAL compatible, if you feel like taking a risk.) And I couldn't be happier with the service I've received.

(BTW, this is not an attempt to SPAM a dealer in exchange for preferable treatment; they'd have no idea who I was if you dropped my real name -- and if you said 'DrMazoola sent me,' they'd probably hang up.)
