Some issues with the resolume server

Post by kevin »

Dear Resolume team and group,
I have built the resolume server as spec below:
* Processor: Dual XEON CPU 3.0G 18M 12C 4189P Gold 5317
* Memory: 64G (16G per DIMM) DDR4 REG
* Storage: 2 x SSD 2.5" 512GB 3D TLC BICS5 (0~70C); (Support 8 x 2.5/3.5" trays SSD/HDD (Hot-swap); 1 x M.2 2280 B+M key (SATA))
* GPU card: 1 x QUADRO RTX A5000 24GB; 2 x QUADRO RTX A4000 16GB
* Expansion Slot: 4 x PCIe x16; 7 x PCIe
My setup slot is:
- CPU0: A5000 x16 (for GUI)
- CPU1: 2xA4000 x16 (for extend output)
and config in Nvidia control panels is (I tested with 2 options)
- Op1: CUDA-GPUs: Global settings (All)
+ OpenGL rendering GPU: RTX A5000
--> The result really bad: the fps drop down to 40 and it not stable, it jump a lot from 40-55-60.....
After that I changed the CUDA-GPU to RTXA5000 but the fps same problem

--> And I saw in Task Manager Resolume almost use A5000-Copy with 90-100%
- Op2: I changed CUDA-GPU: Global setting (all)
+ OpenGL rendering GPU: A4000 (1) or (2)
--> The result very good, it stable, sometime drop to 50,55 but not much
The comp is: 19580 x 1600
I did not know the problem come from, I guess maybe I use in 2 CPUs so it need the data transfer that why when I choose A5000 will the problem come.
Hope some master can help me find the problem to fix it.
Many thanks,

It's always been recommended to match GPU's so either (2) A4000's or (2) A5000's. I believe that is mainly for stability when dealing with driver updates, but it shouldn't affect FPS as far as I can tell.
I typically never change the nVidia settings, but with (2) mismatched GPU's it may not be a bad idea to set your primary rendering device that way.

System specs seem good so the only thing I can think of asking is: Is all of your content DXV3? With a 20K raster, any content that is not GPU optimized is really going to eat up resources quick.
What are you playing? Just content or are the capture sources as well?
What about FX, any being used?

Dear Arvol,
You correct because I tried test all GPU same CPU0 and setting all in Nvidia control for A5000, the fps better and stable around 50-60fps but the other problem coming is it always use 3D-copy of A5000 and used 90-100%, I have to re-start resolume 2 or 3 times it will become normal.
All content is DXV3 Normal quality, High cannot, the fps will drop down a lot with it
I am playing just content did not use anything FX because I knew it will make the system more stress.
This system I also use Quadro sync 2 to syns (2)A4000s.
Many thanks,

Could you expand on this a bit more? Maybe do a quick screen record with OBS so we can see what's going on a little better? Thanks for all of the detailed info <3
