Hello everyone,
I am trying to control a wall consisting of W2812b LED strips via Art Net. This works, but the output stutters significantly when looking at the LEDs. Sometimes entire strips even flash on and off. This occurs regardless of whether we are dealing with 30 or thousands of LEDs.
The specs of the computer are:
AMD Ryzen 9 7950x
RTX 4090
64 GB DDR 5 Ram
Windows 11 Pro
I have really tried everything to solve the problem, and a hardware issue can definitely be ruled out. It must be related to Resolume. Here are the things I have already tried:
- Different composition resolutions (100 to 10,000 pixels)
- Different Resolume version (currently 7.18.2 rev 29742)
- Nvidia Game-ready and Studio drivers
- The computer is hardly stressed by the components; Resolume's render framerate is constant and stable
- Adjusted composition framerate
- Checked Lumiverses for double assignments
- Selected Art Net Controller from the list, but also tested broadcast signal
- Adjusted framerate in Lumiverse
- Changed subnet and starting universe
- Adjusted delay
- Went through fixture settings
- Different fixture sizes (1 to 170 LEDs)
- I examined the Art Net signal using “The ArtNetominator”, and there are minor shifts and the stuttering is visible. Whenever the output in the ArtNetominator stalls, the LED strip does too
It must be a Resolume problem because:
- The hardware was completely swapped out (different computer, different LED Art Net Controller, different LED strip, and different power supply)
- Other software: Animations on the strip run smoothly with Madrix 5 or “Jinx! - LED Matrix Control”
- When I set Resolume’s Art Net output to localhost, configure this output as Art Net input in Madrix, and conduct the final Art Net output through Madrix, it also runs smoothly
Unfortunately, none of these things lead to the desired success. The workaround of routing and outputting Art Net via another software cannot be the goal. I hope someone here can help.
