Resolume 7.3.0 Released! Start settings for parameter animation, new effects & generators
Version 7.3.0 has start options for parameter animations. You can now determine when a parameter animation starts and re-triggers as well as playing BPM parameter animations out of the global BPM phase. 7.3.0 also contains two new generators; Abstract Field and Tunnelines. A picture in picture mixer (PiP). Two new effects; Acuarela and Tilt Shift. And of course, as usual, a lot of small bug fixes.
Parameter Start Settings
When you set a parameter to animate on a Timeline or BPM Sync you now have some extra options to determine when exactly it is started and re-triggered. What this does exactly is hard to describe in words, but we tried anyway here. It's best shown by example so checkout the video that explains it all.
Upgraded FFGL to v2.2
With FFGL version 2.2 developers can more easily debug their plugins and group parameters together. All details are on our GitHub repo.
Backwards Compatibility
Compositions saved in version 7.3.0 are not fully backwards compatible with older versions like 7.2.1 This is not usually a problem but you should be aware of this when for instance sharing a composition with others. Once saved in 7.3.0 you should always open in 7.3.0 (or higher).

Resolume 7.2.0 Released! Clip Renderer, Recording & Conversion Improvements, 2 New Effects
With version 7.2 we're making Resolume a bit more useful for content production rather than live performances because ... well you know why. So you can now render clips to file with Resolume. Record straight to DXV or ProRes. And Alley can now convert to ProRes and Motion JPEG. ProRes video playback is also much improved. There are 2 news effects: Pixel Blur and Bloom. And the interface text is now rendered with the Noto Sans font.
Clip Renderer
To make Resolume a bit more useful in your studio for creating content rather than live shows you can now render your clips to disk! Go crazy with sources, shapes, text, add as many effects you like and when you are happy with the result you can render it to a file and share it anywhere you like. Check it out. You'll find it in the Clip menu: Render to File. Read all the instructions in the Clip Renderer support article.
Recording Improvements
You can now record straight to DXV 3 or ProRes and it will record at the frame rate set for the composition. All versions of DXV 3 and ProRes are supported so this means you can now preserve alpha in your recordings when you use DXV 3 Normal or High Quality with Alpha or ProRes4444. You'll find these settings in the new Recording tab of the Preferences and we updated the Recording support article with instructions.
ProRes & Motion JPEG Conversion in Alley
Alley can now not only convert to the DXV 3 codec but thanks to a licensing deal with Apple, Alley can now also render to all flavours of ProRes on both macOS and Windows. And we also added good old Motion JPEG conversion.
Improved ProRes Playback
Playback of ProRes encoded video files is now much much faster so you can actually VJ in pristine image quality using ProRes.
New Effects: Pixel Blur & Bloom
The standard Blur effect in Resolume is built for speed but to do this it needs to sacrifice some image quality. Most of the time it's good enough but sometimes you just want a pixel precise blur just like you have in Photoshop. Resolume now has a picture perfect blur and it's called Pixel Blur. Check it out, it's gorgeous but not as fast and the standard Blur so choose your weapons wisely.
To make a Bloom effect you need a pixel perfect blur and lo and behold, we have this now so we also created a Bloom effect, just because we can. No not just because we can but because it makes your footage look all nice and glowy on the outside, and that makes us feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
NDI Updated to version 4.5
NDI inside Resolume is updated to the latest version and we managed to fix a few minor bugs so streaming with NDI to OBS should be running nice and smooth.
New Interface Font - Noto Sans
Noto Sans is now used in the Resolume interface. This font supports more characters and has a more consistent look on Chinese and Japanese. The Noto Sans font is also included in the installer so we're not dependent on what macOS or Windows ship with their operating systems anymore. Noto Sans is an open source font made by Google. Thank you Google, we love you, we hate you, we need you.

Resolume 7.1.2 Released: Improved Gradient & Clip Transitions
Resolume 7.1.2 fixes a few bugs and crashes but also has a much improved Gradient that can now take a palette of multiple colours. You can now link layer parameters to the clip transition phase which allows you to make custom clip transitions from effects. Checkout the two videos we made for this release.

Here you go, Resolume version 7.1.1. This version took a while and was a lot of work but it has a fix-list longer than The Return of the King's end credits. Including a long standing crash that happened on NVIDIA videocards after running Resolume for a few hours. Unfortunately we had to remove the GPU meter from the statusbar for now, we hope to bring that back in a future update. At least the crash is fixed. We're confident that this release will solve the last stability issues in version 7 that some of you have been experiencing.
New & Improved Blends & Transitions
New in this release are Dissolve, Exclusion and Overlay blend modes and there are a few new "50" blends like 50 Dodge and 50 Burn. Subtract, Difference and Difference I (inverse) have been improved and now look exactly the same as in Photoshop.
You can now use any blend as a transition between clips and it will always fade smoothly from clip A to clip B. No more unexpected results when a clip contains alpha.
Alley Trim
You can now trim a video with Alley! Set the in and out points on the timeline of a video, convert, done, your video is now trimmed.
New Denon DJ Hardware
Denon DJ has just released a boatload of new hardware and version 7.1.1 ensures all that hardware and new firmware plays nice with Arena.
Avenue & Arena 6.1.5
Since many of you are still using v6 we decided to release one more update. This version fixes a crash with the Shaper effect on macOS Catalina. NDI output is now compatible with version 7 (and other applications) by fixing the alpha channel and the latest version of Alley is now included in the installers.

Here you go, Resolume version 7.1.1. This version took a while and was a lot of work but it has a fix-list longer than The Return of the King's end credits. Including a long standing crash that happened on NVIDIA videocards after running Resolume for a few hours. Unfortunately we had to remove the GPU meter from the statusbar for now, we hope to bring that back in a future update. At least the crash is fixed. We're confident that this release will solve the last stability issues in version 7 that some of you have been experiencing.
New & Improved Blends & Transitions
New in this release are Dissolve, Exclusion and Overlay blend modes and there are a few new "50" blends like 50 Dodge and 50 Burn. Subtract, Difference and Difference I (inverse) have been improved and now look exactly the same as in Photoshop.
You can now use any blend as a transition between clips and it will always fade smoothly from clip A to clip B. No more unexpected results when a clip contains alpha.
Alley Trim
You can now trim a video with Alley! Set the in and out points on the timeline of a video, convert, done, your video is now trimmed.
New Denon DJ Hardware
Denon DJ has just released a boatload of new hardware and version 7.1.1 ensures all that hardware and new firmware plays nice with Arena.
Avenue & Arena 6.1.5
Since many of you are still using v6 we decided to release one more update. This version fixes a crash with the Shaper effect on macOS Catalina. NDI output is now compatible with version 7 (and other applications) by fixing the alpha channel and the latest version of Alley is now included in the installers.

Team Resolume
Resolume 7.0.5: NDI 4, FFGL Plugin Improvements, Smoother SMPTE Playback, Alley Footage Downloader
NDI is updated to version 4 which is faster and has better compression. Playback via SMPTE is a lot smoother. Installing new FFGL plugins does not require a restart anymore and when FFGL plugins are missing in a composition you now see a warning. Last but not least Alley can now download Resolume footage for you!
Alley Footage Downloader
When you buy footage in the Resolume shop you have to download a lot of zip files, unzip them when they are downloaded and then copy the files to your desired location. That all requires a lot of time clicking with your mouse and let's be honest we would all prefer to spend our precious mouse clicks on something else. So now Alley can download and unzip footage packs for you! Log in to your shop account and you'll now find a Download with Alley button on your footage packs, click it (after you have installed 7.0.5) and Alley will take care of everything. Huge timesaver! 💪🏻
NDI 4
NDI is updated to version 4 which is faster and has improved image quality. NDI 16 bit streaming is not yet supported.
Improved FFGL Plugin Management
When you install an FFGL plugin you do not have to restart Resolume anymore to make sure it shows up in the interface. Now FFGL plugins will show up in Resolume instantly even when it's already running. And when you open a composition that uses FFGL plugins that are not installed you'll see a red warning to let you know they are missing. Install them and you're good to go, no restart required.
Smoother SMPTE Playback
While working on the SMPTE above 24 hours in version 7.0.4 we saw some more room for improvement. So now video playback is a lot smoother when controlled by SMPTE.
NVIDIA Application Profile
We now install an NVIDIA application profile to make sure the driver settings are optimal for Avenue & Arena.
Swap Input Output Shape in the Advanced Output
Make the input shape of a slice the output shape and the output shape the input shape. Get it? Neither do we ;-) But this is sometimes quite handy when you're creating complex mappings with various virtual screens. Right-click a slice and you'll find this option in the slice popup menu.

Resolume 7.0.4: Effect Renaming, Deck & Column Improvements, SMPTE >24 Hours, Bug Fixes
Resolume 7.0.4 includes many bug fixes but also some minor new features. You can rename effects, remove a lot of columns in one go and each deck can now have it's own number of columns so you do not end up with a lot of empty columns at the end of decks anymore. DMX shortcuts can now be limited to a certain range and SMPTE timecode goes to infinity and beyond!
Rename & Reorder Effects
You can now rename an effect when you right-click it and you can simply grab an effect by it's header and drop it to reorder, no need to use the confusing "hamburger menu" icon to reorder anymore.
Remove Columns
Every deck in a composition does not have to have the same number of columns anymore. Each deck can now have it's own number of columns and this keeps your decks nice and tidy. It's also very easy to remove a lot of columns now. Right click a column and you have the option to remove all columns before and after that column.
SMPTE Beyond 24 hours
According to the SMPTE timecode specifications you're not allowed to send timecode above 24 hours, however it is technically possible to go higher, now Arena will accept timecode up to 35 hours. Thanks to Danny Purdue from Programfeed for requesting this.
DMX Shortcut Range
You can now easily limit the range on a parameter for DMX shortcuts. For instance control the Scale from 100% to 200% instead of the full 0% to 1000%.

We accidentally included the Sliced option in the Adobe DXV Exporters of the previous 7.0.4 release. This option is not working correctly yet so this update removes it again. It will be released as DXV 4 in a future update.
