We have just added two new FreeFrame plugin packs from Intrinsic to the shop. The CrossFadeWipe pack contains 25 cross fades and wipe effects. These effects can be used in Resolume to do wipes and cross fades between layers. Collection X contains fluid paint effects and kaleidoscope tunnel effects.

Resolume is on the 'computer arts projects' disk

Resolume is featured in the september issue of 'computer arts projects'.
This issue of the magazine is talks about the 'design for the music industry'. In the article 'Creating club visuals' a short insight is given into the creation of visuals.
In college we allways bought the computer arts to learn the basic skills. Never thought we would be in it ourselves one day.

Resolume wins in DJmag tech award 2006

Resolume wins the DJmag tech award in the vj category! Here is what the judges had to say:

Eclectic Method: “For this category, Resolume is the most versatile and interesting piece of software.”

Eserin: “For £130 you get an expandable set-up, loads of effects to keep interest going and easily assignable clip banks, plus DMX control for lighting shows.”

VJ Anyone: “It also memorises setting, works in high definition (HD) and VJs can control clip speed by music beats.”

Halliwell: “There's a vast differrence in the price and I think VJs will get bored quickly with the other software.”

WestEnd DJ: “Even after buying a controller it's still better value for money than the rest and it's a lot more versatile and well designed.”

Thanks Oli!
;-D

New FreeFrame plugin pack

We have just released the second FreeFrame plugin pack made by Dave Green. This new pack contains 18 new high quality real-time FreeFrame effects. I think we have a new favorite; Old film is just a classic effect that surprisingly has not been available as a FreeFrame plugin untill now.

Resolume 2.4 released

Here it is: Resolume 2.4 final! We smashed loads of bugs and added a couple of small enhancements. This is a free update so download and enjoy!

One of this enhancements is a new overlay mode called AlphaLuma. With the AlphaLuma overlay mode the luminance of a pixel determines it's alpha value. In other words, if you would make the video grayscale then the dark parts would become more transparent then the light part in the image. Compared to a normal alpha blend that has a tendency to make the result a bit gray and dull this keeps the overall image nice and bright.

For a full list of bug fixes and enhancements checkout the change log on the download page. In case you missed the 2.4 beta version here is what is new compared to 2.3:

BPM Clock
With the BPM clock in Resolume it is very easy so synchronise video clips to the tempo (Beats Per Minute) of the music. By setting the the video clips in BPM mode the speed of the clips is automatically adjusted to fit in any number of beats. The BPM clock can be set manually or can be linked to an external Midi clock.

With this function your visuals are so easily synchronised to the beat of the music! The BPM clock can also be used to drive effect parameters and to have them play synchronised to the music.

Checkout the BPM clock chapter in the manual for instructions.

DMX
DMX can be used to control Resolume but also to send DMX signals from flash movies playing in Resolume. This enables you to integrate your visuals and video with lights, strobes, lasers, moving heads, LED panels and any other device that is DMX compatible. DMX signals can be send via Artnet over a computer network or via USB with the Enttec DMX USB Pro Interface.

Check out the DMX chapter in the manual for instructions.

Speed improvements
We took some extra time to totally dissect the Resolume engine and Edwin was able to improve the playback speed dramatically, with one layer playback framerates can be up to 80% faster and running multiple layers can be up to 10-20% faster. So if you were thinking about switching from 320x240 to 640x480 now is the time to try it out.

Resolume on the national news

Resolume made it on the dutch national news last night! The news (Journaal) ran a short item about the first Bachelor of Art and Technology in Game Design and Development graguates from the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU). Allthough it suggests that the guy who is playing with Resolume is an amateur and he made it himself it's still nice to see Resolume on the news.

The video is in dutch (in case you wondered why they make such funny noises)
